Hello amazing Ash Fork families!
Wow does time fly?! So far this year, we have spent some time learning about atoms and cells in science class. In Social Studies, we have begun working through the early civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. I am looking forward to diving deeper into these and many other topics over the remainder of the school year. My classroom is evolving and changing in great ways as I become more experienced as a teacher. One of the changes that I am now implementing comes from a great training that I just went through called Kagan Cooperative Learning. Your kids will have the opportunity to work with new people in the class and develop teamwork and communication skills, while increasing their participation in questions and activities. Another change in my classroom that we have just started brings some pretty neat hands-on educational tools like Legos, Play-Doh, and interactive notebooks!
While exploring local wildlife, our students have caught several small critters that have become class pets. One of them is a tarantula and the other is a small snake. Additionally, I have 3 leopard geckos, fish, and a Chinese Water Dragon that will be more permanent fixtures in our classroom. I do have some special new friends joining our mighty classroom ranks that should make a debut in the next few weeks. The students have risen to the occasion to help me take care of these critters and the live feeders we use. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns for me. Thank you so much for your time and all your help with this amazing group of kids. Have a great day!
Very respectfully,
Mr. DJ
