6th Grade Students preparing for an experiment

 Hello amazing Ash Fork families!

It has been an awesome and eventful first quarter. I have really enjoyed getting to know each of your children and I appreciate how welcoming they have been while acclimating to a new teacher.  So far this semester we have spent time learning about a variety of interesting topics and have been able to engage in a few fun class projects and experiments.  In Science we have had some cool projects learning about Cells, Photosynthesis, Energy, Momentum, and Force. Most recently, we created a 3-D representation of how photosynthesis works using Playdough. Another hands-on project we completed dealt with potential energy versus versus kinetic energy using balloons that that were attached to a string.  In Social Studies we have discussed  a wide range of topics from a survey of our continents history, what happened on September 11th, history of the National Anthem  to  learning about the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We will start learning about Middle and South America after break! I am in the process of creating an exciting class project that will help our students make up the days that we missed during the first few weeks of school.  We also have a really cool class pet that is a Spotted Leopard Gecko. If some students may be able to take our class pet home over 3 day weekends with parent consent.  It has been so awesome being part of this amazing community! I am really looking forward looking forward to a long future here in Ash Fork.  I am also really looking forward to getting to know our Ash Fork families more as time goes on.  Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  If so far we have not had any major issues in class and the students have largely demonstrated maturity and excitement for learning.  Thanks so much for reading and I hope everyone has an amazing break!

Very Respectfully,

Mr.DJ
