The Ash Fork Middle School has made several changes this year.
First of all, I would like to welcome Mr. Sanderson as part of our team. He is teaching science and social studies at the middle school. Mr. Sanderson is super energetic, and the students enjoy the learning experiences with the experiments.
Also, I would like to acknowledge Mrs. Broehm, the middle school ELA teacher. She made it a point this year to make sure the 6th graders had physical education. The middle schoolers dismiss from school at 2:45 p.m. instead of 4:00 p.m. The new time does not allow for a scheduled P.E. class for the 6th graders. Mrs. Broehm starts a 6th grade P.E. class 30 minutes before school to encourage them to keep active.
Finally, students are taking advantage of staying active during their lunchtime. The athletic field, weight room, and gymnasium are open to them for various activities. The students enjoy playing sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, and weightlifting.
Superintendent, Seth Staples, monitors the students in the weight room, and Mrs. Broehm and Mrs. Acosta monitor the field and the gymnasium.
I am proud of our team and middle school students for a successful first quarter.
