On April 28, 2021 eighth graders, freshman, and seniors went on a three day canoe trip through Black Canyon on the Colorado River. On the morning of the 28th Ash Fork students set out from Willow Beach, Arizona and paddled almost eight miles upstream to Arizona Hot Springs. The following day students continued to paddle upstream to Boy Scout Canyon where they explored the canyon and played in the river. Back at camp, students got to visit the hot springs, participate in cliff jumping, and swim in the river.
It has become a tradition for Ash Fork Middle School to take eighth graders on this trip so they can apply the leadership skills they have learned through Teen Leadership and teambuilding, and to celebrate their hard work in middle school and promotion to high school. In addition, the school brought along freshman who didn't get to go last year due to Covid closures and seniors for their senior trip.
