Sing, Dance and Create Art
We are hearing a lot about staying healthy during this time of Coronavirus as we head in to the Fall. We know hand washing, wearing a mask and keeping physical distance helps. But other activities can keep our minds and bodies flexible, relaxed and engaged.
Did you know that singing can help us stay healthy? Singing can boost immunity, help us sleep better and lower our stress levels. When can we fit this fun practice in? In the car, getting ready for bed or in the shower are all examples of great times to sing. I know I have found myself singing a funny tune or belting along with the radio. Take time with your family to revisit some silly camp songs or songs you may have sung to them when they were younger.
Dancing can also benefit our health. Dancing provides cardiovascular exercise that is good for our heart and lungs. It can also boost our self- confidence and our mental well-being. Dancing can be fun and challenging by aiming to improve coordination and memory.
Finally, enjoying and creating art can provide time for thoughts and creativity to come to life. Art can also help relieve stress and help with communication of our thoughts and feelings. You don’t have to be an expert artist to enjoy creating through painting, drawing or crafting.
