The High School Physics class takes part in a summative unit project to show off what they have learned. The project itself is to build a “catapult” to support and highlight the physics “behind” the catapult, specifically, forces, energy, and projectile motion. The rationale is to make the Physics class more project-based, meaning they apply the skills they have acquired in class to a real life hands-on situation which has been proven to make learning more fun and thus more engaging.
