This week Middle School Science had their first dissection lab. In this lab the 6th and 7th grade students got hands-on experience exploring the muscular system, by comparing the similar structure of chicken wings to human arms. Students identified the three types of muscle tissue (cardiac, smooth, skeletal) and discovered how muscles and bones interact. In addition, the students dissected chicken wings to practice manipulating dissecting equipment and safety procedures when dealing with biological specimens.
