The High School softball team finished their season yesterday with an overall record of 8-14 and a conference record of 5-9. One of the high points for the season was winning the Epic Tourney’s sliver bracket, the girls went 4-0 in the tournament. Another, highlight is the team finished the season ranked #15 in the 1A state playoffs. They will face the #2 seed Bagdad on Friday at 4:00pm, in Bagdad. The defense for the team was led by Sophomore and Freshman pitchers Jessie Prosser and Aura Mendez, the Duo pitched all varsity games this year. Aura led the team with 51 strikeouts and Jessie had 35. Jessie also led the team in stolen bases with 28. Gracie Staples, Nevaeh Mann, and Crystal Nixon fueled the offense with their hitting, each one had 18 RBI’s this season.
The softball team will be losing 1 senior this year, Tori Sisneros. She was an outfielder for the team this year and will be greatly missed next year.
I am very proud of the girls this season we are a very young team with only 1 senior, and 1 junior. I am very excited for the future of softball at Ash Fork High School and can’t wait for another great season.
