1st grade was able to attend two different field trips to enhance the topics they were learning about in class. On October 20th , 1st grade, as well as Kindergarten and 2nd grade, went to the Mortimer Farm Pumpkin Patch. It was a great way to wrap up learning about animal and plant lifecycles.
While learning about Community Helpers, students got a visit from Battalion Chief Matthew McDowell from a neighboring fire district to teach the kids the importance of having an exit plan with their families in case there is ever an emergency. They practiced how to get low and go. Later in the semester, 1st graders were invited to visit the Ash Fork Fire Station. The wonderful volunteers at the station loaded up the students up with goodies and then toured them around the station. Kids got the spray the fire hose, learn about extrication equipment, and see the importance of having smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in the house.
Thank you to everyone that helped make this a great semester. We are looking forward to a great 2nd semester and a busy 2023!
